Leroy W. Bean

May 7, 1941 - January 5, 2025

Leroy W. Bean, 83, of Culver, Indiana, went to meet our Heavenly Father on January 5, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver.

Leroy was born on May 7, 1941, in Springfield, Illinois to the late Clifford and Lela (Duddleson) Bean of Culver. On July 22, 1961, he married Margaret Poor of Winamac, IN. They lived a happy 63 years of marriage.

Leroy worked for Easterday Construction for 43 years, prior to retiring. He was always there to give a helping hand. He was called upon, by many, for help in his trade. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years, also holding the role as their Stationmaster. He found himself running the Culver Food Pantry for many years. He helped acquire freezers and shelving to accommodate more space for distribution. He was a great leader, community volunteer, and will be remembered as a giving man.

Leroy is survived by his wife: Margaret Bean, daughters: Kimberly (John) Rose of Winamac and Cheryl (Joe) Smith of Culver, grandchildren: Mogan Malek of Winamac, and Amy Pizer of Delong, 3 step-grandchildren: Shawna (Michael) Downs of Australia, Jerry (Bryanne) Smith of Winamac, and Kayley (Max) Smith of Fort Wayne, great grandchildren, whom he loved: Cody Bean, Skyler Pike, Korben Fagner, Christian Bean, Cameron Bean, Abagail Freese, Aubrianna Freese, Luna Downs, Benjamin Pizer, Zander Smith, Maryam Damene, and Amina Damene, and one great-great grandbaby due 1-13-25 he was hoping to meet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lela Bean, brothers: Clifford "Babe" (Shirley) Bean and Norman (Mary) Bean, sisters: Lila (Sam) Howard and Gloria (Pete) Artist, and grandson: RoyLee T. Bean.

The family would like to thank all who helped care for Leroy at Miller's Merry Manor during his stay, as well as Traditions Health Hospice Care during his last days with us. Many thanks go to Odom Funeral Home for their care, service, and compassion during this difficult time.

Friends and family may join Leroy's family in celebrating his life at Odom Funeral Home, Culver, on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM EST. Funeral service for Leroy begins at 3:00 PM EST with Pastor Mary, who will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Culver Masonic Cemetery.

Following Leroy's service, the family would like to enjoy your visit and stories about Leroy with a light meal at the Culver Lions Club Depot located at 615 Lakeshore Drive, Culver.
