It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Janice Lee Sharkey on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 83.
Janice was born on July 29, 1940, in Harvey, IL to Beatrice (nee Gabrione) and Joseph Magliola. Jan met the love of her life and beloved husband, Thomas Sharkey Jr. when he went to the bank where she was working as a teller. Tom decided to make his deposit at her teller window. Soon after, they were married and recently celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary.Jan worked hard throughout her life. She raised her son, Mark, as a single mother, cared for her mother and father until their passing, and cared for many other family and friends.Jan is survived by her husband: Tom, son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Ann Martino, sisters: Carol Kwiatkowski and Linda Conforti, granddaughters: Allison and Gabrielle Martino, stepchildren: Jeanette (Thomas) Flynn, Ruth (Stanley) Benes, and Phillip (Colleen) Sharkey, step-grandchildren: Samantha, Ashton, Rachel (Aaron) Thomas (Vicki), and Bridgett (Alan) step-great grandchildren: Noah, Leo, Parker, Cameron, and Theo, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, IN, on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. EST. immediately followed by a luncheon.
