Ethel J. Reinholt Loehmer, 91, of Monterey, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at 11:11 pm, Friday, December 6, 2024, at her residence.

Ethel was born on June 6, 1933, in Monterey, Indiana, the daughter of Theodore and Hope (Williams) Reinholt. She was born and raised in Monterey. Ethel was 4th out of 6 siblings.

Ethel married the love of her life, Ralph Loehmer, on April 11, 1959, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Monterey and they had seven children. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend. She had a great work ethic and loved gardening, baking, canning, taking care of her grandkids and holding her great grandkids. Ethel helped Ralph farm and helped with funeral dinners and other church-related activities. She also drove the school bus for over ten years. In 1979, Ethel and Ralph began milking cows. They milked cows until October 1993, when they retired.

After retirement, Ethel enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, gardening, flowers, and going on joyrides. Ethel loved attending various fish fries.

Ethel is survived by six children: Maurice (Julie Girton) Loehmer, Lawrence (Laura Garza) Loehmer, Mary (Greg) Zehner, all of Monterey, Marie (Terry) Christian of Lafayette, Indiana, Chris (Honey) Loehmer of Monterey, Indiana, Veronica (Eric) Boardman of Winamac, Indiana, 19 grandkids, 15 great grandkids, siblings: Ladyne Millican, Georgia, and Arthur Reinhold of Monterey, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Hope Reinholt, husband, Ralph Loehmer, son, Michael Loehmer, daughter-in-law, Connie Loehmer, brothers, Richard (Ellen Rose) Reinholt and Russell (Melgie Jo) Reinholt, sister, Ellen Richard, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Monterey, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 12:00 PM noon EST with visitation from 9:00 AM EST until service time. Burial will follow at St. Anne's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Covenant House, or the Fulton-Pulaski Pastorate in memory of the Loehmer family.
