charles e. "chuck" broeker

March 30, 1942 - March 22, 2025

Charles E. "Chuck" Broeker, 82, of Culver, Indiana, passed away on March 22, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born on March 30, 1942, in Culver, Indiana, to Charles H. and Jane E. (Boehm) Broeker. He grew up in Culver, developing a deep love for farming, animals, and the rural lifestyle. He attended West High School, where he excelled in athletics, playing baseball, running track, and serving as the starting center on the basketball team. He was also an active member of 4-H, which fueled his lifelong passion for raising livestock.

After proudly serving in the military, Chuck was offered a job with the FBI. However, his heart was always with his family and the land, so he chose to return home to pursue dairy farming. In 1966, he started his own dairy operation with just six cows, growing it into a thriving farm through years of hard work and dedication. Over his lifetime, Chuck raised a vast array of birds and livestock, but his greatest passion was always his horses.

Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His wisdom, kindness and unwavering work ethic will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Ann (Paul) Broeker, daughters: Robin Ann (Bloomquist) Broeker and Dawn Crawford, siblings: Dian Harris (Jay Gray) and Timothy (Sheila) Broeker, grandchildren: Elexie (Derek) Bailey, Dylan Buck-Crawford, Seamus Crawford, Matthew Ryan Bloomquist, Joshua Aron Bloomquist, and John David (Sam) Bloomquist, great grandchildren: Ana Lee Jane Bailey and Aron Lee Bailey, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles H. and Jane E. Broeker, daughter: Jennifer Kay Broeker, brother: Donald Broeker, sister: Michelle Hanson, and son-in-law: Seth Bloomquist.

A celebration of Chuck's life will be held within the coming months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chuck's memory to Culver FFA or Marshall County 4H (where his grandchildren are active members) or to Elara Caring Hospice.
