Delores V. Wagner
August 4, 1933 - March 21, 2023
Delores V. Wagner, 89, of Culver, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023 at home, her faithful husband of 70 years, Norm, at her side. Her only daughter, Barbara A. Wagner, preceded her in death just 3 months prior on December 9, 2022, leaving no family save three nephews and a niece, and Norm to mourn her.
Dee was born Delores V. Stevens, near Crawfordsville, IN, on August 4, 1933.
Norm and Dee met at Indiana University, Bloomington, she a scholarship student, later marrying at St. Joseph's parish, Logansport, IN, on February 7, 1953, eventually returning to IU where Dee held secretarial positions in Electronics Audio-Visual to permit Norm to finish his Master's Degree before both joined the faculty of Culver Military Academy, Dee as Registrar and Norm as an Instructor, where they proudly witnessed their daughter graduate with honors from both Summer and Winter Schools. The latter with honors in voice and letter in rifle.
Dee, in addition to being full-time faculty as registrar and college placement for the winter school, was head of National Testing programs, yet still was a full-time wife and mother and tended a well-kept home, yard, and garden while helping Norm with preparation and posting grades - just how, Norm could only wonder.
Dee truly love to read and did so at every moment open to her when not serving on Academy committees and boards. She became an excellent bridge player as well, playing with the Plymouth Community Club and other friends.
Following retirement, she traveled the world, both with Norm and Barb and a favorite aunt, Mary Catherine Tiley. In sum, a very full life - living to see her Platinum 70th anniversary.
Per her wishes, she was cremated and at a later date will be commemorated at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Plymouth, IN, where she was a long-standing parishioner.
Her many dear friends will miss her dearly, as indeed, Norm will. May she rest in God's mercy.
